Based on traditional culture, the Vukovar Advent festivities have been held since 1997, consisting of a series of musical and stage performances, along with the lighting of Advent candles. In the ceremony of the first Sunday, a luminous river of burning torches brings light through the streets of Vukovar, from the church of St. Filip and Jakov to Eltz Manor, where light is brought in and the first Advent candle is lit, along with a rich program of traditional customs.

Advent in Vukovar grows from year to year, so during the four weeks of Advent, in which the birth of Jesus is awaited with the display of live nativity scenes, various shows and workshops in the specially decorated Santa’s Corner, ice skating on the city ice rink and music evenings, followed by a Christmas gastro experience.
