Vukovar Ada, a sandy ait on the Danube, is the favourite destination for picnics and swimming for the residents of Vukovar, their guests and visitors and, best of all, it is only a 5-minute boat ride away from the town’s centre. This pearl is also one of the top ten most beautiful and interesting riverside and lakeside beaches in Croatia, spanning the area of about 32,000 m2, depending on the river’s water level. The fishermen of Vukovar have cleaned up this wonderful sandy beach which offers a haven away from the heat of the town’s asphalt during the hot summer months. A pavilion in the shade offers an assortment of refreshing beverages and fast food and there is a sand court nearby where you can play beach volleyball. Those with a yearning for adventure and the Robinson Crusoe way of life can put up their tents and camp overnight by this mighty European river. In between swims, you can relax with a light read in a beach house, prepared for you by the Vukovar Town Library. Or are you more of a sports type and would rather make use of our fitness equipment?

No need to fear mosquitoes, our hard-working fishermen regularly control them. During the Vukovar Film Festival – Danube Region Film Festival – film screenings are held in this unique location. Watching some of the best European films on a sandy island on the Danube, in the natural shade, with a refreshing drink, seated in a comfortable lounge chair – priceless!

No need to worry about transportation to the island: Vukovar’s fishermen will take you there by boat from the centre of the town and back, every day from 10am until 8pm.

Because if you don’t have the Danube, the sea will do!
